OPTICS HOUSE
OPTICS HOUSE IS A COMPREHENSIVE OPTICS AND EYECARE PLATFORM. I LED THE UX ENHANCEMENT OF THE EXISTING E-COMMERCE SITE, TRANSFORMING IT FROM A SIMPLE ONLINE STORE INTO A HOLISTIC EYECARE ECOSYSTEM. THE PROJECT INVOLVED DESIGNING TWO DISTINCT PERSONAL CABINETS (FOR BUYERS AND DOCTORS), A PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL FORUM, AND HEALTH-TRACKING FEATURES, CREATING A SEAMLESS BRIDGE BETWEEN RETAIL, PERSONAL HEALTH MANAGEMENT, AND PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL PRACTICE.
THE CHALLENGE
THE PAIN
The existing platform was purely transactional. It lacked user engagement, personalized health tracking, and a dedicated digital space for medical professionals. Furthermore, managing complex medical data (prescriptions, virtual try-ons) and family purchases (e.g., buying for elderly parents) required a massive UX upgrade to prevent user frustration.
THE SOLUTION
This project required balancing two completely different user mental models within one platform:
- The Buyer (B2C): Needs simplicity, care, easy navigation, and health insights.
- The Doctor (Pro): Needs efficiency, quick access to patient data, time-saving tools, and professional growth.
INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE & UX STRATEGY
THE PAIN
I designed a unified but role-based architecture. Upon login, the system routes users to their specific dashboards. The B2C dashboard focuses on shopping, health tracking, and family care, while the Pro dashboard focuses on practice management, scheduling, and professional development.
THE SOLUTION
- Created distinct navigation structures for Buyers and Doctors to avoid cognitive overload.
- Designed a unified "Medical Profile" system that securely stores prescriptions and test results, accessible to both the user and their doctor (with permission).
- Implemented a clear visual hierarchy to separate transactional e-commerce elements from healthcare/medical tools.
CUSTOMER PERSONAL CABINET (B2C)
THE PAIN
Buying glasses and lenses is highly personal and often involves complex data (prescriptions, pupillary distance). Additionally, many users buy for their elderly parents, making address and prescription management chaotic.
THE SOLUTION
I designed a "Care-Centric" personal cabinet that goes beyond simple order history.
- Family & Address Management: Created a multi-profile address book allowing users to easily switch between their own delivery address and their parents' addresses, storing specific prescriptions for each family member.
- "My Health" Hub: Designed a dedicated section for vision tests, eye exercises, and health tracking, turning a retail app into a daily health companion.
- Digital Prescriptions: Built a clean, secure interface for storing personal lens and glasses prescriptions, making re-ordering a one-click process.
- Virtual Try-On: Integrated a seamless photo-upload flow for the virtual glasses try-on feature, ensuring clear instructions and instant visual feedback.
- Loyalty & Finance: Designed clear widgets for the bonus card, internal balance, promo codes, and favorite items, keeping financial incentives visible but not intrusive.
DOCTOR'S PERSONAL CABINET (PRO)
THE PAIN
Optometrists and ophthalmologists juggle appointments, patient records, and paperwork. Clunky interfaces slow down their workflow and reduce the time they can spend with patients.
THE SOLUTION
I designed a "Practice Management" dashboard focused on speed, clarity, and efficiency.
- Patient Cards: Created comprehensive digital patient profiles aggregating order history, past prescriptions, and vision test results in one scrollable view.
- Smart Calendar: Designed an intuitive appointment booking system with daily/weekly views, status indicators, and quick-reschedule options.
- E-Prescription Builder: Developed a streamlined, step-by-step form for issuing electronic prescriptions, reducing manual entry errors and saving time.
- Professional Growth: Integrated a "Testing & Certification" module where doctors can take qualification exams, track their progress, and download digital certificates directly within the platform.
DOCTORS' FORUM & REPUTATION SYSTEM
THE PAIN
Medical professionals need a space to share knowledge, discuss complex cases, and build their professional reputation. Without a structured community, expertise remains siloed.
THE SOLUTION
I designed an internal professional forum integrated with a dynamic reputation system.
- Forum UI: Created a clean, readable discussion board with categories (e.g., "Complex Cases", "New Technologies", "Certification Help").
- Reputation Algorithm: Designed a specialist rating system that combines patient reviews with forum activity (helpful answers, shared knowledge), displayed prominently on the doctor's public profile.
- Gamification for Pros: Added badges and certification levels to encourage continuous learning and community participation.
